About VBCH

The Virginia Business Coalition on Health (VBCH) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), founded in 1983 under the name of the Hampton Roads Health Coalition.  It has since expanded Virginia-wide.  VBCH, a member of the National Business Coalition on Health, is a Leapfrog Regional Roll-out Leader which publicly reports hospital quality and patient safety data since 2003, compares health plan data on nine health plans Virginia-wide through the eValue8 RFI Tool, engages in community quality improvement, multi-employer direct contracting, education and communication, and wellness and health promotion.  VBCH is a mixed-model member coalition of 70 stakeholder purchasers (employers) and providers, representing 250,000 employees and their dependents.  Visit www.myVBCH.org or phone 757.552.0913 for more information about VBCH.

VISION

We envision a unified, knowledgeable, unified stakeholder* voice to promote best practices for high-quality, cost-effective health care and a healthy productive workforce.

MISSION

To provide superior membership service and to build the capacity to convene and be the collective resource for Virginia employers to advance value-based purchasing, productivity, wellness, patient safety and quality.

GOALS

• Expand, unify and strengthen VBCH membership
• Educate and disseminate on national best practices and VBCH-acquired data
• Build data gathering and reporting capacity (through the eValue8 RFI Tool and Leapfrog Hospital Quality and Safety Survey, for example)
• Promote Wellness in the Workplace in Virginia and Identify opportunities to improve the health status of Virginia communities
• Serve Our Members

*VBCH member stakeholders include purchasers as well as providers (health plans/insurers; hospitals; consultants; pharmaceutical companies) believing that cooperation between all parties will bring solutions to the health care environment.
